Ryan Robertson
A lifelong Texan, musician, and builder, Ryan Robertson founded Delta Avenue Guitars in his hometown of Luling, Texas.
He found himself asking, “Why are the ‘big guitar companies’ cutting corners and using mediocre parts?”
A company was born.
Ryan began building custom electric guitars from an interest in the inner-workings of guitars. As he learned more and more about what went into the instruments, and the brands we all know and love (Fender, Gibson, etc), Ryan saw room for improvement in many of the choices that the big companies were making.
Necessity is the mother of invention. A company expanded.
Ryan’s partner, Bear Ryan, front woman of The Delta Snakes, is a left handed musician. When she formed a love for Cigar Box Guitars, it proved difficult to find south-paws versions of the instruments. And so, Ryan started building them as well.
Wildly popular at shows, stirring fans’ curiosity, people began inquiring about right-handed CBGs.
Ryan’s custom-builds go beyond decoration and hobby instruments. Installed with top of the line pickups, pots, and wiring, with custom shaped necks and creative finishes, the guitars are performance-ready, with a focus on great tone and sturdy craftsmanship that will endure travel and regular wear-and-tear.
In the spring of 2024, Ryan and Bear moved to Clarksdale, Mississippi. After purchasing the “Bluestown Music” building at 321 Delta Ave - just a block away from the famed blues venue, “Ground Zero” (owned by Morgan Freeman) - Ryan set up his guitar workshop and re-named the brand Delta Avenue Guitars. He now offers custom guitars to travelers making the pilgrimage to the Mississippi Delta to pay their respects and enjoy the true home of American blues and roots music.
